Last Friday, we took Celine and Prins to Bikini Beach, a short boat ride from Fairport Marina. Prins had an absolute blast. Celine surprised me, and didn't enjoy the beach. She wasn't crazy about sand in her toes. Once she figured out the ramp to get on Jay's houseboat, she climbed up and took a nap in the shade of the catwalk. She enjoyed sitting on the houseboat, and liked the other dogs on the island, but boy that sand was not her favorite thing at all. We'll try Celine on the island again in cooler weather, on a weekday, but she might be the kind of diva that loves boat rides, docks, and outdoor restaurants but not island life.
Lenka is an old salt, having traveled in the past many times to Bikini Beach when we previously had a slip at Fairport Marina. On Saturday, we took Lenka and Prins, and those two had the time of their lives. At the height of the afternoon, there were 15 boats beached on the shore, seven dogs from multiple families, and at least 50 people. Lenka was like a young dog all over again. She remembered her friend Buddy, a lab mix, as well as our island friends Kenny and Jay. The last time Lenka saw Brewsky, he was a small puppy. Now he weighs more than her! Brewsky and Prins became fast friends, as I expected they would. Prins enjoyed sitting in the water as well as running in the cool packed sand at the water's edge. He took a few breaks to visit nearby umbrellas and sat with a group of young ladies on a towel, who all laughed and took selfies with him. Mr. Delightful makes friends wherever he goes!
